Match preview: Barcelona versus giant killing Getafe

May 25th, 2007
We have FC Barcelona tickets for all competitions at the Nou Camp

Both the team and supporters alike are slightly anxious ahead of the clash with Getafe on Saturday night. After the thrashing they received in the King’s Cup and with no margin of error to play with for the remainder of the season, Barcelona must win tomorrow night if they are to stand any chance of winning the league, and much of this must now be down to the pychological strength of the players.

Meanwhile La Liga leaders Real Madrid face Deportivo at home on Saturday, while third place Sevilla play host to Zaragoza on Sunday. We’ll be awaiting these results with fingers crossed.

No respite for Barça

May 20th, 2007

As the Atletico de Madrid-Barcelona match gets underway the players are fully aware that the must win tonight. Despite levelling to 2-2 against Real Madrid, Recreativo lost to the Galacticos in the last minute so that Real Madrid retain their top spot.

Match preview: Barcelona-Betis

May 11th, 2007

After last night’s shock defeat by Getafe in the Copa del Rey the pressure is really on for the team to perform in the league. With Real Madrid just 2 points behind and facing Espanyol on Sunday night there is no room for anything but a clear win against Betis on Sunday night. They drew 1-1 in January, although last season Barcelona beat Betis 4-1 away and then 5-1 at home.

Match date: Sunday 13 May at 19:00

Match preview: The Classic

March 9th, 2007

It’s the big one on Saturday night when Real Madrid take on FC Barcelona in the Nou Camp in what is known as ‘The Classic’.

Both teams must at least draw some comfort from the fact that neither made it through to the next round of Champions League and will be pulling out all the stops to ensure victory.

One of the big doubts for Saturday night is Ronaldinho, although the club has confirmed that he is not suffering from a torn muscle in his left thigh after the match against Liverpool on Tuesday.

As to be expected the match is sold out, although there will be a small number of tickets available from the box office due to the way Barcelona allocates tickets. Expectation runs high and Spain will be at a virtual standstill on Saturday night from 22:00 when the clash of the Titans begins.

Match preview: Osasuna-FC Barcelona

February 2nd, 2007

At the Nou Camp back in September Barcelona beat Osasuna 3-0, but with Ronaldinho playing far below his peak and Messi still out of the picture it remains to be seen whether Barça can get as good a result on Sunday night in Pamplona.

However, Samuel Eto’o is back in training with the squad and is widely expected to make his return, although Frank Rijkaard will probably choose to play it safe and not play him for the entire match.

Barcelona remain in top position in the league with 42 points, just 1 ahead of Sevilla and 4 points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid. However, Sevilla are playing Real Sociedad who have won just 2 matches this season, meaning at least one point almost guaranteed for Sevilla – Barça need to win this match to ensure their lead and once its star players are back in action and at peak performance that lead needs to be extended.
