Barcelona ensured it remains top of the league for this weekend with a 2-0 away victory against Real Sociedad. The team performed well right from the starting whistle, although Real Sociedad’s solid defence ensured that Barça was unable to do anything with their dominent possesion of the ball and it was not until 2 minutes into the second half thatIniesta was able to score from a pass from Ronaldinho.
The match settled down after this and although Messi made a good attack on the goal shortly after, it was not until the 87th minute that Samuel Eto’o was able to settle the match with another pass from Ronaldinho.
With the 3 points in the bag FC Barcelona has ensured that the remain at the top of the table, but the big match this weekend is Real Madrid v Sevilla tonight at 22:00. Barcelona will be hoping for a draw as both teams are breathing down their necks, but whatever the result this last stretch of the season promises to be nerve-wracking to the end.
